Villeneuve-la-Dondagre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fouchères in the north, Subligny and Collemiers in the northeast, Cornant in the east, Égriselles-le-Bocage in the southeast, Courtoin in the south, La Belliole in the west and Saint-Valérien in the northwest.
