Vernoy belongs to the Arrondissement Sens and the canton Gâtinais en Bourgogne (until 2015 Chéroy ). The inhabitants are called Vernoyens .

Vernoy is about 17 kilometers southwest of downtown Sens . Vernoy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Courtoin in the north, Égriselles-le-Bocage in the east and northeast, Chaumot in the southeast, Piffonds in the south, Savigny-sur-Clairis in the west and southwest and Domats in the west and northwest.
