Vinneuf is a French village with 1,548 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Yonne department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Sens and the canton of Thorigny-sur-Oreuse (until 2015: canton of Sergines ).

Vinneuf is about 20 kilometers northwest of Sens . The Yonne limits the municipality to the south. Vinneuf is surrounded by the neighboring communities Gravon and Balloy in the north, Bazoches-lès-Bray in the northeast, Courlon-sur-Yonne in the east, Champigny in the south, Chaumont in the south and southwest, Villeblevin in the southwest and Misy-sur-Yonne in the west and Northwest.

The A5 car route runs through the municipality .
