Pokrowskoje ( Russian Покровское , German  Buttkuhnen , 1938–1945 Tilsental , and Krebschen , 1938–1945 Eichbaum , Lithuanian Butkūnai and Krepšai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Tschernjachowsk in chernyakhovsky district .

Today, however, the place is located at the Medukallen / Honigberg location, initially part of Wischnjowoje , and in its vicinity, while the Buttkuhnen / Tilsental and Krebschen / Eichbaum locations are abandoned.

Geographical location

The two former districts of Pokrovskoje, about two kilometers away, are 30 kilometers northeast of the city of Chernyachovsk (Insterburg) . The northern district (formerly Buttkuhnen or Tilsental ) is on a side road (27k-075) that connects Uljanowo (Kraupischken , 1938-1946 Breitenstein) with Schilino (Szillen , 1936-1946 Schillen) . A country road branches off from this road, which leads to Koschelewo (Kaschelen , 1938–1946 Kasseln) and runs through the southern district (formerly Krebschen , 1938–1946 Eichbaum ).

Today's Pokrovskoje is a little further west on the municipal road 27K-095, which branches off from the municipal road 27K-075 at Watutino and leads south to the municipal road 27K-094 ( Kalinowka - Kaluschskoje - Pridoroschnoje ).

There is no train connection. Until 1945 Moulienen (1938-1946 Moulinen , today Russian: Michailowka) was the next station on the Insterburg – Kraupischken / Breitenstein and Ragnit – Kraupischken / Breitenstein lines of the Insterburger Kleinbahnen .

history

Until 1945

Pokrowskoje / Buttkuhnen (Tilsental)

The district of Pokrowskojes, once called Buttkuhnen , is located on the east bank of the Tilse (Russian: Tylscha) in the tranquil Tilsetal and consisted of a few small farms and farmsteads before 1945. The rural community was in the 1874-1945 District Moulienen (1939-1945 "District Moulinen", Russian: Michailowka) incorporated, which until 1922 the county Ragnit , then to the district of Tilsit-Ragnit in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

In 1910 40 inhabitants were registered in Buttkuhnen. Their number was 115 in 1933 and was still 108 in 1939. On June 3, 1938, Buttkuhnen was renamed "Tilsental" for political and ideological reasons. The official confirmation of the new name comes from July 16, 1938. As a result of the war, Tilsental came to the Soviet Union in 1945 with northern East Prussia .

Pokrowskoje / Krebschen (Eichbaum)

The former Krebschen is several hundred meters west of the Tilse and before 1945 consisted of a few large and small farms. Between 1874 and 1908 the rural community was incorporated into the district of Ostwethen (1938–1946 Ostfelde , no longer existent today), then into the district of Anstippen (1938–1946 Ansten ), both of which became the district of Ragnit until 1922 , then the district of Tilsit-Ragnit in the administrative district of Gumbinnen belonged to the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1910, 143 people lived in the small village. The number fell to 125 by 1933 and was only 96 in 1939. On June 3, 1938, Krebschen was given the new name "Eichbaum". In 1945, like all places in northern East Prussia, the Soviet Union came to be .

Since 1945

In 1947 Buttkuhnen / Tilsental and Krebschen / Eichbaum were jointly given the Russian name “Pokrowskoje”. At the same time Pokrovskoje was incorporated into the Kaluschski selski Sowet in the Chernyakhovsk district. The local offices Buttkuhnen / Tilsental and Krebschen / Eichbaum were abandoned, while the name Pokrowskoje was transferred to a settlement around the local office Medukallen / Honigberg located a little to the west, which was actually initially assigned to the Russian town of Vishnevoye . From 2008 to 2015 Pokrovskoye belonged to the rural municipality of Kalushskoye selskoje posselenije and since then has been part of the Chernyakhovsk district.

church

Before 1945 the population, both in Buttkuhnen (Tilsental) and in Krebschen (Eichbaum), was almost without exception Protestant . While Buttkuhnen belonged to the parish of the Kraupischken Church (1938-1946: Breitenstein, today Russian: Uljanowo ), Krebschen (Eichbaum) was parish in the Szillen Church (1936-1946: Schillen, today Russian: Schilino ). Both parishes belonged to the church district Tilsit - Ragnit (Sowetsk-Neman) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
