history

The place name derives from the location of the farm on the Siefen , which are formed by the Sieferhofer and Holzerhofer Bach. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows a farm under the name Zieferhof . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish Witzhelden in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 both record the place as Sieferhof .

19 inhabitants lived in the village in 1815/16. In 1832 Sieferhof belonged to the Witzhelden parish of the Burscheid mayor . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had five residential buildings and seven agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 28 residents lived in the place, two of them Catholic and 26 Protestant.

Due to the municipal code for the Rhine province, the parish of Witzhelden received the status of a municipality in 1845, left the Burscheid mayor and formed its own mayor's office from 1850 onwards . In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, six houses with 15 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had five houses with 26 inhabitants, in 1905 three houses and 13 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1975, the municipality of Witzhelden was incorporated with Sieferhof in Leichlingen.
