About this picture

Steinhagen is a municipality southwest of Stralsund in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen . The municipality is administered by the office of Niepars with its seat in the municipality of Niepars . The community has more than doubled its population since 1990.

Geography and traffic

Steinhagen is about ten kilometers southwest of the city of Stralsund and ten kilometers north of Grimmen in a wooded area. In the north the community borders on the Borgwallsee , in the east on the wetland and waters of the Krummenhagener See . The federal highway 194 runs through the village . It can also be reached via the federal autobahn 20 (connection Grimmen-Ost ).

The districts Negast (with Pennin and Seemühl), Krummenhagen and Steinhagen belong to the community.

history

With the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, Steinhagen came under Swedish rule and in 1815 Western Pomerania became part of the Prussian province of Pomerania .

The Gothic brick church was built by the neighboring Neuenkamp Monastery (today Franzburg) in the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1283. Jakob Liefer was pastor of the church from 1634 to 1639 .

The Prussian state domain has been managed in this way since 1819. According to the Prussian census, 126 people lived on the 491 hectare estate in 1871. The manor house from 1898 was built during the tenure of councilor Carl Gierke (1855–1909). After 1945 it was a residential and community center. The estate has been privatized since 2004.

The community was part of the Franzburg-Barth district until 1952 and then belonged to the Stralsund district in the Rostock district until 1994 .

In Steinhagen, due to its proximity to Stralsund, a large number of new apartments were built. The population rose from 1280 in 1990 to around 2500.

Krummenhagen: Good u. a. Owned by the family Justquinus of Goshen from Stralsund (17th c.); later domain that was relocated in the 1930s. The manor house dates from the 19th century.

Negast , formerly Nigas , has existed since the Neuenkamp monastery was founded around 1233.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania .
