The Vogtland Panorama Weg (original spelling) is a 228-kilometer circular hiking trail that runs mainly in the Vogtland district. In 2005, the hiking trail was the first East German hiking trail to be awarded the seal of approval "Quality Trail Wanderable Germany" by the German Hiking Association. In 2008 the certification was renewed. The path is characterized by 280 changes in landscape and 82 panoramic views, which gave the hiking trail its name. The name "Vogtland Panorama Weg" was protected as a registered trademark .

course

The hiking trail has been roughly divided into 12 stages, which are only intended as a suggestion for hikes. Detours are possible at any time thanks to the narrow network of trails in Vogtland.

The first stage begins at the Göltzschtalbrücke , which is 574 meters long and 78 meters high, the largest brick bridge in the world. The path leads uphill briefly and then back down into the Friesenbachtal . Along the Göltzsch , the path runs over the Köhlersteig in the direction of Greiz to the confluence of the Göltzsch with the White Elster . Logo of the "Quality Trail Wanderable Germany"

Most of the existing markings of other hiking trails are used to mark the Vogtland Panorama Weg. The Vogtland-Weg , which was partly laid out over 100 years ago and is marked with a blue line on a white background, is regarded as the “core path ”. The Vogtland Panorama Weg also follows in parts of the Eisenach-Budapest mountain hiking trail , marked with a red line on a white background, and the E3 long-distance hiking trail , marked with a blue "E3" on a white background. Local and regional hiking trails marked with yellow or green lines on a white background complete the Vogtland Panorama Weg. Especially at junctions or when there is a change of markings, there is also the sign of the Vogtland Panorama Weg, the letters "VPW" in red on a white background.
