André Hoffmann (born February 28, 1993 in Essen ) is a German soccer player who is currently under contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf . His preferred position is central defense, but he can also play in defensive midfield.

André Hoffmann started playing soccer with SuS Haarzopf at the age of three and a half and joined the youth team at SC Phönix Essen in 2000. In 2002 he moved to the youth department of MSV Duisburg . In 2010 he was awarded the Fritz Walter Medal in silver by the DFB in the U-17 age group as one of the best young players in his age group.
MSV Duisburg
Hoffmann was appointed to the professional squad of MSV Duisburg for the 2010/11 season and was given a contract until 2013. In his first year, however, he remained without a commitment for the first team. He made his professional debut on the 1st matchday of the 2011/12 season against Karlsruher SC , when he started in the defensive midfield in the starting lineup. On matchday 14 at Alemannia Aachen , he scored his first professional goal. In 2012 he again won the Fritz Walter Medal in silver in the U-19 age group.
Hannover 96
During the winter break of the 2012/13 season, Hoffmann moved to the Bundesliga for Hannover 96 . On January 3, 2013, he signed a contract running until June 30, 2016 and was given the number 15 on his shirt. On May 20, 2014 Hannover 96 announced that the contract with André Hoffmann had been prematurely extended to summer 2018.
Hoffmann played his first competitive game for his new club at the start of the second half against FC Schalke 04 , when he came on for Sérgio da Silva Pinto in the 77th minute . He played his first home game for Hanover a week later in a 2-1 win against VfL Wolfsburg . He scored his first goal at the meanwhile 1: 5 against Bayern Munich ; after a mistake by Manuel Neuer , he headed the ball from a very short distance. A game day later he scored the 2-1 in a 3-2 away win against SpVgg Greuther Fürth .
In June 2014, he tore a cruciate ligament while exercising and was out for over a year. After that, due to his training deficit, he played for the second team of Hannover 96 during the 2015/16 season before Thomas Schaaf considered him again for the first team.
Fortuna Dusseldorf
In January 2017, Hanover loaned Hoffmann to league competitor Fortuna Düsseldorf . The loan contract ended on June 30, 2017, on May 23, 2017 it was signed for a three-year period up to 2020. In August 2019, Fortuna extended the contract ahead of schedule until 2023.
