The Schwalm-Eder constituency (constituency 170) is one of 22 Bundestag constituencies in Hesse . The constituency includes the Schwalm-Eder district and the southern part of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district with the communities Allendorf (Eder) , Battenberg (Eder) , Bromskirchen , Burgwald , Frankenau , Frankenberg (Eder) , Gemünden (Wohra) , Haina (monastery ) , Hatzfeld (Eder) , Rosenthal and Vöhl . The constituency is considered an SPD stronghold.

The  2017 federal election took place on Sunday, September 24, 2017. In Hessen , 20 parties applied with their state list. The Alliance of German Democrats withdrew their application. The violet one was rejected by the state election committee because the required two thousand signatures for support were not presented. Thus 18 parties apply with their state lists in Hesse. A total of 353 applicants are running on the state lists, less than a third (114) of them women.
