Crawford County is a county in the State of Ohio of the United States . The county seat is Bucyrus .

The county is located in north-central Ohio and has an area of 1043 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Seneca County , Huron County , Richland County , Morrow County , Marion County, and Wyandot Counties .
history
Crawford County was formed on February 12, 1820 from parts of Delaware County. It was named after William Crawford , an officer in the American Revolutionary War .

After the census in 2000 46 966 people lived in Crawford County. 609 of them lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 18,957 households and 13,175 families. The racial the population was composed of 97.99 percent white, 0.59 percent African American, 0.20 percent Native American, 0.31 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 0.24 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.65 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.77 percent of the population.
Of the 18,957 households, 31.2 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 55.1 percent were married couples living together, 10.5 percent were single mothers, 30.5 percent were non-families, 26.3 percent were single households, and 11.5 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.94.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 24.9 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 8.0 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 27.6 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 24.3 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 15.2 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 93.4 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 90.8 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 36,227 , and the median income for a family is $ 43,169. Males had a median income of $ 33,319 versus $ 21,346 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,466. 7.8 percent of families and 10.4 percent of the population are below the poverty line. Of these, 13.7 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 7.5 percent were people over 65 years of age.
