Dexter Lamar Jackson (* 28. July 1977 in Quincy , Florida ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of safety . He played college football at Florida State University and was drafted in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .

For his achievements in Super Bowl XXXVII , he was elected Super Bowl MVP .

Football career

First stay with the Buccaneers

Jackson was drafted in the fourth round at number 113 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1999 NFL Draft . He made his NFL debut against the Denver Broncos in the third game of the season.

With the Buccaneers he reached Super Bowl XXXVII , in which they played against the Oakland Raiders and won with 48:21. With his two interceptions caught , he won the Super Bowl MVP election . After Jake Scott , who won it in 1973, he was only the second Safety to receive this award. In addition, he is only the third defensive back , after Scott and Larry Brown , to receive the award.

Arizona Cardinals

Shortly after Jackson was named a Super Bowl MVP, he was declared a free agent . The Pittsburgh Steelers had an oral agreement under their belt with Dexter Jackson. But this signed shortly before the draft with the Arizona Cardinals and the Steelers had to switch to "Plan B" and drafted Troy Polamalu .

Second stay with the Buccaneers

Jackson rejoined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2004 and played there until the end of the 2005 season .

Cincinnati Bengals

Before the 2006 season , he signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals . He played there for three seasons before being released on March 6, 2009 .

Florida Tuskers

Jackson ended his career as a professional player with the Florida Tuskers , who played in the United Football League (UFL) from 2009 to 2010 . He played there for a year from 2009 and then ended his career.
