history
Erected in 1908 with a capacity of 30,927, the stadium was known only as Lansdowne Park for a long time until it was renamed in 1993 in honor of Frank Clair, a Canadian football coach of the 1960s and 1970s. The stadium was home to the Ottawa Rough Riders , a club in the Canadian Football League , from 1908 to 1996 , until it disbanded in 1996. Between 2002 and 2005 the stadium hosted home games for the Ottawa Renegades , the newly formed Canadian football team.
In the summer of 2007, the then Frank Clair Stadium was one of the six stadiums in which the 2007 Junior World Cup was held. A game of group D, the games of group E, as well as the round of 16 between Zambia and Nigeria and the quarter-finals between Argentina and Mexico were played here.
Next to the stadium, the multi-purpose arena TD Place Arena with 10,000 seats is currently being renovated. Since the 2014/15 season, the Ottawa 67’s from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) have played their games there again. It also serves as an alternate stadium for Canadian football games between the two Ottawa universities.
TD Place Stadium is one of six venues for the 2015 Women's World Cup .
The Ottawa Fury soccer team played here from 2014 to 2019 . Atlético Ottawa has been playing its home games in the Canadian Premier League in the stadium since the 2020 season . In addition, the Canadian football team Ottawa Redblacks uses the TD Place Stadium as their home ground.
