Měník (German Mienik ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers southeast of Nový Bydžov and belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové .

geography

Měník is located on the left side of the Cidlina on the East Bohemian Table in the saddle between the hills Horka (266 m) and Bor (271 m). There are several ponds in the vicinity of the village.

Neighboring towns are Libeň and Zdechovice in the northeast, Barchůvek and Bydžovská Lhotka in the southeast, Kosice in the south, Mlékosrby , Luková and Zadražany in the southwest, Zachrašťany and Vysočany in the west and Humburky in the northwest.

history

The first documentary mention of the Měnín manor took place in 1332 as the property of the nobleman Martin von Měnín. As further owners are u. a. From 1383 Jan Čapek von Měnín, from 1409 Mikuláš Kostlovec from Měnín and from 1518 Václav Měnický from Měnín. At the end of the 15th century, the name Měník arose . Martin Měnický von Červený Ves sold the farm and the village to the town of Bidschow in 1599 . In the berní rula from 1654, Měnín has five farmers, three sitters and a blacksmith. During the serf uprising of 1775, the residents of Měnín obtained the parceling of the Měnín farm according to the Raab system at the Bidschow council .

After the abolition of patrimonial Mněník / Mnenik with the district Lieben from 1850 formed a municipality in the Nový Bydžov district . The village has been called Měník since 1878 . Together with the neighboring village of Humburky , Měník is a center of horse breeding, the Kubišta family has been active here for several generations since the end of the 19th century. In 1900 Měník had 1077 inhabitants. Since 1961 Měník belongs to Okres Hradec Králové, at the same time Bydžovská Lhotka was incorporated. In 1970 600 people lived in the community. In 1980 Barchůvek was incorporated.

The municipality Měník consists of the districts Barchůvek ( Klein Barchow ), Bydžovská Lhotka ( Bidschower Lhota ), Libeň ( Lieben ) and Měník ( Mienik ).
