Montbazens is a French commune with 1,388 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aveyron department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Villefranche-de-Rouergue and the canton Lot et Montbazinois (until 2015: canton Montbazens ). The inhabitants are called Montbazinois .

geography

Montbazens is about 20 kilometers southeast of Figeac . Montbazens is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Valzergues in the north, Lugan in the east, Roussennac in the south and south-east, Vaureilles in the south and south-west and Galgan in the west and north-west.

The former route nationale 594 (today's D994) runs through the municipality .
