Cabanès ( Occitan Cabanas ) is a French commune of the department of Aveyron with 252 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the region Occitania (before 2016 Midi-Pyrenees ). It is assigned to the canton of Ceor-Ségala (until 2015 Naucelle ) and the arrondissement of Villefranche-de-Rouergue (until 2017 Rodez ). The inhabitants are called Cabanésiens .

geography

Cabanès is located about 36 kilometers southwest of Rodez in the Massif Central . The river Lézert runs in the north of the municipality and its tributary Escudelle in the south . At the village of Villelongue the Lieux de Villelongue joins the Lézert. The Lieux , a tributary of the Viaur, flows at the municipality boundary in the extreme south .

Cabanès is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pradinas in the north and northwest, Sauveterre-de-Rouergue in the north, Naucelle in the east, Tauriac-de-Naucelle in the southeast, Crespin in the south, Castelmary in the southwest and Tayrac in the west.
