Firmi is a French commune with 2,393 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aveyron department in the Occitanie region . Aubin belongs to the arrondissement Villefranche-de-Rouergue and is part of the canton Enne et Alzou (until 2015: canton Aubin ). The inhabitants are called Firminois .

geography

Firmi is located on the Riou Mort river . In the southwest, the Enne borders the community. Firmi is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Almont-les-Junies in the north, Noailhac in the northeast, Saint-Cyprien-sur-Dourdou in the east, Auzits in the south and southeast, Cransac in the south and southwest, Aubin in the west and Decazeville and Flagnac in the northwest.

history

The first blast furnace in France, in which the iron for building rails was melted, was built in Firmi.
