November 16 : World premiere of the romantic opera Die Hochländerin am Caucasus by Conradin Kreutzer in Hamburg

December 6th : The concert premiere of the “dramatic legend” La damnation de Faust (Faust's damnation) by Hector Berlioz based on Goethe's Faust I takes place at the Opéra-Comique in Paris . The staged premiere did not take place until 1893.
