history
Neuburg first appears in a document in 1219. The name suggests one of two Obotritic castles. One of the two was the Ilenburg or Ilow Castle near the district of the same name. The eponymous Neuburg from after 1171 was located to the west of the village, at the current sports field and is still visible. The Romanesque / Gothic village church in Neuburg was built as a residential church until 1244. The Gothic tower dates from the 14th century.
In recent years (as of 2015) Neuburg has developed into a small center for the rural environment and has become a preferred residential location. In addition to medical practices and supply facilities, the community has the regional school as an inclusive elementary school and the folk high school in Vogelsang.
New Farpen: The manor house dates from around 1820.
Steinhausen: The manor house dates from the 19th century.
Vogelsang: Landowners were u. a. the families von Bülow , von Plessen , von Maydell , von Stralendorf, Schade and Schröder.
Incorporation: On July 1, 1950 Kartlow were incorporated into Neuburg and Zarnekow into Steinhausen. On April 1, 1959, the new community of Neuburg-Steinhausen was created through the merger of the two namesake places. On January 1, 2002, the communities of Neuburg-Steinhausen and Hagebök merged to form the new community of Neuburg.

coat of arms
Blazon : "In silver, in the shield base in the blue water in the middle a silver fish turned to the right, above a vaulted golden stone arch bridge, over which a sweeping red castle with three towers and five protruding battlements rises."
The coat of arms was designed by Peter Neichel from Rosenthal and Jürgen Willbarth from Schwerin . It was approved by the Ministry of the Interior on July 23, 2018. |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: The castle stands in the coat of arms for the name of the community and with its three towers symbolizes the merger of the three communities Neuburg, Steinhausen (1959) and Hagebök (2002) to form today's community. Each of the 15 battlements stands for one of the 15 villages in the municipality. The stylized stone arch bridge to the castle symbolizes the historically grown relationships with both the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the nearby Hanseatic cities of Wismar and Lübeck. The swimming fish is intended to illustrate the natural wealth of the community and the important economic use of the Farpen reservoir. |
On February 22, 2018, the Neuburg municipal council decided to adopt the coat of arms described below, which was approved by the Interior Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. He presented the certificate to Mayor Heidrun Teichmann on July 28, 2018.
