history
The village, called Mettkeim until 1946, dates back to before 1370 (maybe even 1277). Between 1874 and 1945, Mettkeim was the administrative center in the eponymous place for the newly established Mettkeim district , which belonged to the Labiau district in the Königsberg district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .
As a result of the war, Mettkeim came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in 1945 . In 1947 the place was given the Russian name Novgorodskoje and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Dobrinsky selski Sowet in Gurjewsk Rajon . From 2008 to 2013 Novgorodskoye belonged to the rural municipality Dobrinskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Guryevsk.
