Podgornoje ( Russian Подгорное , German  Gamsau ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the municipal self-government unit of the Guryevsk District in Guryevsk Raion .

Geographical location

Podgornoje is located in the south-eastern Samland , 14 kilometers from Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg) . Municipal road 27K-128 leads through the village from Nisowje (Waldau) to municipal road 27K-070 at the end of the village. There is no longer a train connection. Until 1945 Gamsau was a train station on the route from Königsberg (Prussia) via Possinder (now Russian: Roschtschino) to Tapiau (Gwardeisk) of the Königsberg small railway .

The founding year of the village called " Gamsau " until 1945 is in 1405. Between 1874 and 1945 Gamsau belonged to the district of Groß Legden (today Russian: Dobroje) in the district of Königsberg (Prussia) (1939 to 1945 district of Samland ) in the district of Königsberg in the Prussian province East Prussia . The number of residents of Gamsau was 123 in 1910.

On September 30, 1928 parts of the manor district of Gamsau, the manor district of Praddau (Russian: Solnetschnoje) and the entire manor district of Praßnicken (Podolskoje) merged to form a new rural community Gamsau. The rest of Gamsau came to the rural community Kalkeim (Gruschewka) in the district of Heiligenwalde (Uschakowo). The number of inhabitants rose to 244 by 1933 and was already 250 in 1939.

As a result of the war, Gamsau came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia . In 1947 the place was given the Russian name Podgornoje and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Nisowski selski Sowet in Gurjewsk Rajon . From 2008 to 2013 Podgornoje belonged to the rural municipality of Nizovskoye selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Guryevsk.
