Rjabinowka ( Russian Ряабиновка , German  Groß Raum ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the municipal self-government unit of the Guryevsk District in Guryevsk Raion .

Geographical location

Ryabinowka is twelve kilometers north of the oblast capital Kaliningrad (Königsberg) and two kilometers west of the regional road 27A-001 (ex A191 ), which connects Kaliningrad via Orlowka (Nesselbeck) with Zelenogradsk (Cranz) . Rjabinowka is a railway station on the railway line Kaliningrad-Zelenogradsk-Pionerski ( Kaliningrad Cranz Neukuhren ) and is beginning station of the former narrow-gauge railway large-Ellerkrug (Rjabinowka-Raduschnoje now: Khrabrovo) that still as a freight route to Kaliningrad airport in Khrabrovo is used .

history

The former Großraum consisted of a forestry department until 1945 - located in the then so-called Forest Fritzen , to whose head forestry department Fritzen (today Russian: Sosnowka) it also belonged. In terms of local politics, Groß Raum was incorporated into the municipality of Schugsten (Berjosowka) and connected to this place in its history. In 1945, Groß Raum with northern East Prussia became part of the Soviet Union . In 1950 the place was given the Russian name Rjabinowka and was assigned at the same time to the village Soviet Matrossowski selski Sowet in Gurjewsk Rajon . Later the place belonged to the Chrabrowski selski Sowet . From 2008 to 2013 Ryabinovka belonged to the rural municipality of Khrabovskoye selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Guryevsk.

Earthquake station

For 19./20. At the turn of the century, one of the first earthquake control stations in the world was established in the Fritzen forest northeast of Groß Raum behind the train station . It was supervised by the physicist and seismologist Emil Wiechert . The barrack in which the earthquake control room was located no longer exists.
