history

“The old manor house, a spacious country house, was raised behind the spacious courtyard. This was followed by the school belonging to the estate and the long, nicely laid out series of houses for 40 working-class families. The exemplary farm had its own train station, mill, dairy, sports field and community hall; they strengthened the community spirit of the residents. The focus of the business was cattle breeding. In 1904 the well-known, successful breeder Waldemar Sehmer took over the business. His death in Königsberg on June 17, 1945 was attested. ”In 1910 Karmitten had 281 inhabitants. A year later, the Adlig Heyde estate belonging to Karmitten (no longer existing today) was removed from Karmitten and converted into an independent estate district. On September 30, 1928, the Karmitten manor was converted into a rural community of the same name. The population of Karmitten sank to 255 by 1933 and was 249 in 1939.

As a result of the Second World War , Karmitten and northern East Prussia became part of the Soviet Union . The place was given the Russian name Otradnoye in 1947 and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Matrossowski selski Sowet in Gurjewsk Rajon .
