Primeira Liga 2004/05

The 2005/06 Primeira Liga was the 72nd season of the top Portuguese league in men's football. It started on August 19, 2005 and ended on May 7, 2006. The promoted players from the Segunda Liga were FC Paços de Ferreira , Naval 1º Maio and CF Estrela Amadora .

This season, FC Porto became champions for the 21st time. The top scorer was Albert Meyong Zé from Cameroon from Belenenses Lisbon with 17 goals ahead of João Tomás (Sporting Braga), Liédson (Sporting Lisbon) and Nuno Gomes (Benfica Lisbon), all of whom scored 15. Portugal gave up its UI Cup place. In contrast to the previous seasons, four clubs were relegated, as the number of participating clubs was reduced to 16.
