Reichshoffen ( German : Reichshofen , Alsatian Rishoffe ) is a French commune with 5,396 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Haguenau-Wissembourg arrondissement .

history

The village came in 1485 as a fief of the Archdiocese of Strasbourg to the County of Hanau-Lichtenberg . In 1570 the feudal lord withdrew the fief. In the 18th century, the village belonged to the Niederbronn office and thus again to the County of Hanau-Lichtenberg, which had been part of the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt since 1736 .

Reichshoffen has had a town partnership with the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Kandel since 1961 .

On November 1, 1972, the neighboring town of Nehwiller-près-Wœrth was incorporated. Nehwiller was granted the status of Commune associée (district with its own local administration).

Economy and Infrastructure

Alstom is building part of the TGV in the former De Dietrich Ferroviaire plant in Reichshoffen.
The for Vossloh belonging Corporation company. Vossloh Cogifer builds in Reichshoffen switches and switch components. Cogifer also belonged to the De Dietrich family .

The community has a stop on the Haguenau – Falck-Hargarten railway line . The TER Alsace trains that run here, however, only run to Niederbronn-les-Bains .
