The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 31st time in 1923/24 . It was also the 34th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 15, 1923 and ended on April 26, 1924. In the 1923/24 season, 20 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 matchdays. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The Glasgow Rangers won the Scottish Championship for the 13th time in the club's history. The FC Clyde and FC Clydebank got into the end of the season Division Two from. The top scorer was Dave Halliday from Dundee FC with 38 goals .
