The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 33rd time in 1925/26 . It was also the 36th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 15, 1925 and ended on April 24, 1926. In the 1925/26 season, 20 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 game days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship won for the 17th time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow . The Raith Rovers and FC Clydebank were relegated to Division Two at the end of the season . The top scorer was William Devlin of FC Cowdenbeath with 40 goals .
