The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 47th time in 1946/47 . It was also the 50th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 10, 1946 and ended on May 17, 1947. In the 1946/47 season, 16 clubs competed against each other in a total of 30 game days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship was won by the Glasgow Rangers for the 25th time in their club history . The FC Kilmarnock and Hamilton Academical got into the end of the season Division Two from. The top scorer was Bobby Mitchell of Third Lanark with 22 goals .
The season was the first after World War II ended in 1945.
