Template:Geobox Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest is a Massachusetts state forest located in Monroe and Florida. The forest is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The park was named in memory of Kenneth M. Dubuque, a former employee of the Department of Environmental Management.[1].
Description
Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest is a 7,882 acres (31.90 km2) forest in the northern Berkshire Hills. DCR maintains 35 miles (56 km) of mixed-use trails, 6 miles (9.7 km) of hiking trails and a one mile interpretive trail that circles Hallockville Pond. There are a few small shelters along the trails.
Historical artifacts in the forest include cellar holes of abandoned South Hawley village, a unusual beehive-shaped fieldstone charcoal kiln, and the remains of a mill complex at Hallockville Pond.[2].
The park is open year round sunrise to sunset.
The Massachusetts Student Conservation Association—AmeriCorps program is headquartered at Hallockville Pond.
