Buntenbach is a court in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Buntenbach is located northeast of the Leichlinger town center on the Leichlinger plateau on the middle course of the Schmerbach .

Neighboring towns are Roderhof , Schmerbach , Wachholder , Scheidt , Neuland , Hülstrung , Bergerhof , Weide , Bennert , Diepenbroich , Oberschmitte , Ellenbogen , Waltenrath , Bechlenberg , Pohligshof and Dierath .

history

Buntenbach was first mentioned in 1324 as Bontenbach . The place name indicates the location of the settlement on the Schmerbach. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm under the name Bullenbag . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 both record the place as Buntenbach .

In 1815/16 there were 25 people living in the village. In 1832 Buntenbach belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had six residential buildings and ten agricultural buildings at the time. At that time, 31 residents lived in the village, four of them Catholic and 27 Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland in 1885 ten houses with 50 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had ten houses with 44 inhabitants, in 1905 seven houses and 43 inhabitants.
