The Football League First Division 2000/01 was the ninth season of the Football League First Division as only the second highest English football league and 98th second division season overall. It started on August 12, 2000 and ended on May 28, 2001.

The championship was won by Fulham FC , which also secured participation in the 2001/02 Premier League season . Behind runner-up Blackburn Rovers , the Bolton Wanderers also rose as playoff winners in the Premier League. Huddersfield Town , Queens Park Rangers and Tranmere Rovers had to relegate to the Football League Second Division .
