Highland County is a county in the state of Ohio in the United States . The county seat is Hillsboro .

The county is located south-southwest of the geographic center of Ohio, about 50 km to the south from the Kentucky border and has an area of ​​1,445 square kilometers, of which twelve square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Fayette County , Ross County , Pike County , Adams County , Brown County, and Clinton Counties .

history

Highland County was formed on February 18, 1805 from parts of Adams, Clermont and Ross Counties. It was named after the hilly land between the Scioto and Little Miami Rivers .
