No beautiful country was a musical entertainment program broadcast by ARD from 1989 to 2007 in the evening program with the subtitle songs, landscapes, musicians . The producing broadcaster was the Saarländischer Rundfunk .

Conception

In each of the 45-minute programs, a region, a city or a travel route in Germany or Europe was presented. Topics on landscape, culture, handicrafts, customs and cuisine were touched upon. The main content, however, was the presentation of music tracks at original locations in the region. These were often performed by local artists or ensembles. This should be linked to the title of the program, which was borrowed from the popular folk song , in which one's own country is sung about as the most beautiful. The overall musical spectrum was broader and ranged from folk songs to popular classical music, with nationally known artists also performing.

The program, created by the SR head of entertainment, Hans-Bernhard Theopold , was moderated by Kammersänger Günter Wewel , who also regularly performed songs himself. His wife was seen in many programs among the viewers or in supporting roles without notice.

But the program also had the effect of tourism advertising , which was expressed not least in the fact that the tourism organizations of the regions were thanked in the end credits .

Broadcast dates, media

The ARD started with a series of broadcasts on Thursdays after 9 p.m. Then the broadcast came once a month on Mondays at 8.15 p.m. and from 2003 only in summer at this time. The 3rd ARD programs began broadcasting repeats as early as 2007, and this continues to this day. The Hessischer Rundfunk and the Südwestrundfunk stand out in particular .
