Loir en Vallée is a French commune with 2,173 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Sarthe in the region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of La Flèche and the canton of Château-du-Loir (until 2015: canton of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir ).

It originated as a commune nouvelle with effect from 1 January 2017 by merging the former municipalities of La Chapelle-Gaugain , Lavenay , Poncé-sur-le-Loir and Ruillé-sur-Loir , the status of the new church commune Déléguée have . The administrative headquarters are located in Ruillé-sur-Loir.

geography

The community is located around 40 kilometers south-east of Le Mans on the border with the neighboring Loir-et-Cher department . The southeastern municipal boundary is largely formed by the Loir River and its Braye tributary . The Tusson River also touches the area. Neighboring municipalities are: Vancé in the north, Bessé-sur-Braye in the northeast, Sougé in the east, Vallée-de-Ronsard in the south, La Chartre-sur-le-Loir in the southwest, Lhomme and Courdemanche in the west, and Saint-Georges-de -la-Couée and Val d'Étangson in the northwest.
