Mons is a French municipality with 438 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton Matha . The inhabitants are called monsois .
geography
Mons is located about 17 kilometers north-northwest of Cognac in the Saintonge . Mons is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Prignac in the north and north-west, Thors in the north, Sonnac in the north-east, Bréville in the east and south-east, Cherves-Richemont in the south and south-east, Mesnac and Le Seure in the south, Migron in the west and Courcerac in the north-west.
