- In the MotoGP class, which was last held with 990 cc machines, the 25-year-old American Nicky Hayden won the first world title of his career on a Honda . He prevails against the Italians Valentino Rossi ( Yamaha ) and Loris Capirossi ( Ducati ). In the constructors' championship, Honda wins ahead of Yamaha and Ducati.
250 cc class
- In the 250 cc class, the 19-year-old Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo won his first world title on an Aprilia ahead of the Italian Andrea Dovizioso (Honda) and Alex De Angelis from San Marino (Aprilia). In the constructors' championship, Aprilia prevails over Honda and KTM .
125 cc class
- The 21-year-old Spaniard Álvaro Bautista won the world title in the eight-liter class on Aprilia . The Finn Mika Kallio finished second on a KTM , and third was Héctor Faubel from Spain, also on an Aprilia. In the constructors' championship Aprilia wins ahead of KTM and Honda.
Superbike World Championship
- The Australian Troy Bayliss won the drivers' championship on Ducati ahead of the British James Toseland ( Honda ) and the Japanese Noriyuki Haga ( Yamaha ). For the 37-year-old, this is the second world title of his career in this category after 2001. In the constructors' championship, Ducati prevailed ahead of Honda and Yamaha.

World Supersport Championship
- The 33-year-old Frenchman Sébastien Charpentier wins the drivers' championship on a Honda ahead of the Australian Kevin Curtain ( Yamaha ) and the Turkish Kenan Sofuoğlu (Honda), defending the title he won last year. In the constructors' championship, Honda beats Yamaha and Ducati .
