The 1993/94 UEFA Champions League was the 2nd season of the most important European competition for club teams in football under this name and the 39th overall. Another record number of 42 national champions took part in the competition this year. With Cwmbran Town , a representative from Wales was for the first time in the national championship competition at the start, since a championship was held there for the first time in the 1992/93 season with the League of Wales . For the first time teams from Georgia , Moldova , Belarus and Croatia took part as representatives of the new successor states of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia . Defending champion Olympique Marseille was not allowed to compete due to a one-year suspension due to the bribery scandal in the preseason. The final took place on May 18, 1994 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .

This season there have been changes to the previous season. After the group stage, there was a semi-final in which the first and second place finishers from both groups crossed over against each other. The two winners advanced to the final.
