master | SK Admira Vienna (4) |
Shooter king | Josef Bican (29) |
The Austrian soccer championship 1933/34 was organized by the WFV association and contested by its members. The single-track II. League served as a substructure for the I. League . These leagues were only accessible to professional football clubs . In addition, other federal state associations organized state championships in different modes on an amateur basis. The respective amateur national champions then also played a master at the amateur championship.
I. League
General
The championship in the I. League was contested with 12 teams who met twice during the entire season. The Austrian football champion was Admira from Vienna, who won her fourth championship title and qualified for the Mitropa Cup in 1934 . The runner-up Rapid, third in the championship Austria, and the winner of the Mitropacups qualification tournament, FAC, were also eligible to participate. SV Donau Wien had to be relegated to the second league as bottom of the table.

Qualification tournament Mitropapokal
General
For the fourth free place to participate in the Mitropa Cup, a qualifying tournament was announced for clubs four to seven in the final table this season. It was a classic “crazy idea” that was discontinued after being held once. The first final between FC Wien and FAC did not find a winner, so another final had to be organized on the Pfarrwiese, which the FAC finally won. At the same time, however, the 1934 World Cup began in Italy, in which one of the leading players of the Austrian national team, Hansi Horvath , was absent from the first games because he insisted his FC Wien play in this second final game. The idea of allowing smaller clubs to participate in the Mitropa Cup also turned out to be unsuccessful, as the FAC promptly lost its first international game for the Mitropa Cup against Ferencváros 8-0.

VAFÖ League
General
The championship of the Free Association of Amateur Football Clubs in Austria was contested by 12 teams in the VAFÖ League, which were to meet twice during the entire season. However, the political events of 1934 meant that only the autumn round of the last VAFÖ league season could be played. The winner was, surprisingly, Phönix Schwechat, who had only climbed to the top of the table for the first time two laps before the end. Most VAFÖ clubs joined the ÖFB in the course of this or the following season and were usually divided into the II. League.
