The Abierto Mexicano Telcel 2017 was a tennis tournament , which from 27 February to 4 March 2017 in Acapulco took place. It was part of the ATP World Tour 2017 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week the Brasil Open were played in São Paulo and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai . The latter, like the Abierto Mexicano Telcel, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category , while the Brasil Open belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in singles was Dominic Thiem , in doubles the pairing of Treat Huey and Max Mirny won last year.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 1,491,310; total financial liabilities were $ 1,633,690.

The qualification took place on February 25th and 26th, 2017. Four qualifier places were played out in singles and one place in doubles, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky-loser pair in doubles.
