Hahn Air Lines is a German airline based in Dreieich and based at Düsseldorf Airport .

history

Foundation and first years

Hahn Air was founded in 1994 as a domestic German airline. The home base was the former US military airfield Hahn (today Frankfurt-Hahn airport ). The naming was derived from this. In 1997, Hahn Air joined the first Billing and Settlement Plan in Germany. The airline also received the IATA code HR and the IATA prefix code 169. From 1999 Hahn Air flights were sold for the first time in the Amadeus computer reservation system . In the same year, the first agreements were signed with the Latin American airlines Aerolíneas Argentinas , Avianca , LAN Airlines and Varig , thus laying the foundation for the ticketing platform. In 2001 Hahn Air became an IATA member and joined several Billing and Settlement Plans (BSPs) (including France , Spain and the United Kingdom ). Hahn Air also connected to the computer reservation systems Saber , Galileo and Worldspan . Further BSP memberships were closed and in 2003 the company's headquarters were relocated from Hahn to Dreieich near Frankfurt am Main . One year later, Hahn Air became a member of the Airlines Reporting Corporation in the USA and is represented with its partners in the Abacus computer reservation system. The 100th interline agreement was also signed. In 2006 Hahn Air issued the first e-ticket and the first interline e-ticket on their computer reservation system. Hahn Air Systems was founded to provide Computer Reservation Services (CRS) to airlines . In 2007, Hahn Air's flight operations went through the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification for the first time. The Japanese and Korean markets were opened up through the connection to the Axess, Infini and Topas reservation systems .

Development since 2010

A contract with Generali Versicherung in 2010 enabled travel agents to issue Hahn Air tickets (HR-169), which since then have included insurance against the bankruptcy of an airline. When Hahn Air joined BSP Kosovo in 2010, it is represented in all European markets. In the following years Hahn Air introduced a number of other products. These include the extended Securtix insolvency insurance , the e-alliance (H1-Air) sales service from Hahn Air Systems for airlines that normally do not have their own GDS contracts, and the opening of the aircraft-designed training and event location The Aircraft at Burghof in Dreieich . With Securtix, passengers receive a reimbursement for the unused part of the HR-169 ticket in the event of the insolvency of a Hahn Air partner, as well as a reimbursement if they have already started the flight and are stuck.

H1-Air enables airlines to outsource the entire sales process (GDS / BSP / travel agency) and to sell flights under the H1 code on HR-169 tickets. In May 2016, Hahn Air Systems recorded the 50th H1-Air partner with SpiceJet.

The sale of high-speed trains was made possible under the name of speed-alliance . The first railway partner was the Austrian WESTbahn and in the summer of 2013 the Spanish railway company RENFE was added. NTV from Italy joined the network in 2014.

Hahn Air founded the Hahn Air Foundation in 2012. The foundation financially supports social projects around the world, especially initiatives for disadvantaged women and children. In the same year HR Ventures, the venture capital company of the Hahn Air group of companies, was founded. The investment focus is on early-stage investments in disruptive and scalable business models.

Development since 2015

In 2015 the first shuttle partner, tinker from the Netherlands , was added. In 2016 speed-alliance became 5W-Rail & Shuttle and Buquebus from Argentina became the first ferry partner. Since Securtix was introduced in 2010, over 30 million insolvency-proof HR-169 tickets have been sold. Hahn Air supports Interline Electronic Miscellaneous Documents (IEMDs). This service enables interline partners to offer additional services in markets in which they do not participate in the local billing system (BSP).
