List of the cardinal creations of Pius XII.
It is probably due to the turmoil of the Second World War that Pope Pius XII. (1939–1958) appointed 56 cardinals in only two consistories during his pontificate . In his creations, he laid the foundation for the internationalization of the College of Cardinals .
