This street was built in 1720. The old Dessauer let this new street break through the original development as a further connection from the city to the Elbe foreland. Previously, the area had belonged to the Augustinian monastery, which also included the Wallon Church . There was already a gate from the monastery to the Elbe to the old fisherman's bank . On the other side of the monastery there was a driveway to the cemetery. This connection was then made continuous and passable. The name Walloner comes from the Wallonerkirche on the south side. After the establishment of the Palatinate Colony, the church was assigned to the Walloon community consisting of religious refugees . The name mountain results from the steep ascent from the Elbe towards the old town.

The street runs on the side of the prince's wall facing the city, part of the city's old fortifications. The naming of the street, decided on October 16, 2006, commemorates the German cabaret artist and entertainer Willy Rosen (1894–1944) who was born in Magdeburg . Because he was of Jewish faith, Willy Rosen was first deported to Theresienstadt in the Magdeburg barracks in the Third Reich and murdered in Auschwitz in 1944. At the same time, three neighboring streets ( Christa-Johannsen-Straße , Ilse-Voigt-Straße and Adele-Elkan-Straße ) were named. All streets were newly built on a former barracks site and serve to develop the residential developments planned there.
