- Berlin / Germany : In Berlin, around 100,000 people demonstrate against the social reforms of the red-green government called “ Agenda 2010 ” and describe their plans as “social deforestation”.
- Berlin / Germany : The Prime Minister of Thuringia Dieter Althaus ( CDU ) takes up his post as President of the Federal Council . Althaus is the first Federal Council President appointed by the State of Thuringia.
- Frankfurt am Main / Germany : Jean-Claude Trichet becomes the new President of the European Central Bank . He wants to continue the line of his predecessor Wim Duisenberg .

- Baghdad / Iraq : A helicopter belonging to the armed forces of the United States is shot down near the Iraqi capital . 15 soldiers lose their lives immediately and at least 20 others are injured, some of them life-threateningly.
- Durham / United States : In New Hampshire , Gene Robinson, an avowed homosexual is ordained a bishop for the first time in the history of the Anglican Church . Conservative sections of the Episcopal Church of the United States criticize the rise of Robinson.
- Sumatra / Indonesia : At least 101 people were killed by a spring tide on the Indonesian island of Sumatra . Over 100 other people are missing, they are also likely dead.
- Tbilisi / Georgia : Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia. a. due to long waiting times in front of the polling stations and the lack of eligible voters on the electoral roll was doubted.
Monday November 3, 2003
- Israel : Public life in Israel was severely affected by a general strike. The unions had called to protest against austerity measures by the Ariel Sharon government . However, a labor court only allowed a 4 hour strike.
- Kabul / Afghanistan : The Afghan government has submitted the draft for a new constitution . The draft calls for the name 'Islamic Republic of Afghanistan'. The draft must now be ratified by the Loja Jirga .
- Mecca / Saudi Arabia : In a police operation in which 2 people are killed, Saudi units take action against terror suspects who are believed to have planned an attack on the holy places during Ramadan .
- Palestinian Territories : Hamas has made the concession to the Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Qurai that it may spare the civilian population in the future. Earlier ceasefire agreements failed because of the targeted killings by the Israeli army.

- Hesse / Germany : More than 10,000 people take to the streets against the austerity measures taken by the Hessian Prime Minister Roland Koch .
- Austria : The employees of the Austrian Federal Railways demonstrate with a warning strike from midnight to 12 noon against the privatization of the ÖBB and against legal changes to the service contracts.
- Tbilisi / Georgia : Around 10,000 people demonstrated against the slow process of counting votes for the weekend. It is feared manipulation, especially since the chipped in surveys governmental alliance for a new Georgia lies with the preliminary counts forward.
- United States : Network specialist Novell announces the takeover of SuSE Linux AG at a price of 210 million US dollars. The transaction is expected to be completed by February 2004. This makes Novell one of the largest providers of solutions for the free Linux operating system .

- Ankara / Turkey : Turkey declares that it will not send any troops to Iraq until the security situation there improves.
- Sun : Astronomers have recorded extreme solar activity for days with the most violent flares ever observed. As a result, several satellites fail, there are power outages in Scandinavia, and the crew of the International Space Station in near-earth orbit is relocated to the best shielded part of the station.

- Berlin / Germany : The CDU Bundestag member Henry Nitzsche makes the assertion in an interview with the newspaper “Der Selbständig” of the Association of Self-employed persons that a “Muslim is more likely to rot off his arm” than that he “joins the Christian Democratic Union Cross makes ”.
- London / United Kingdom : Michael Howard becomes head of the British Conservatives.
- New York / United States : At the UN , the Legal Affairs Committee decides against a decision on the issue of a ban on cloning . This is made possible by the voice of the federal government, which, according to commentators, is opposing an express decision by the Bundestag .
- New York / United States : Associated Press puts the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq at 2,664, in addition to 117 British, 32 Italian, 18 Ukrainian, 17 Polish, 13 Bulgarian and 11 Spanish soldiers died.

- Manila / Philippines : Unknown persons have brought the airport tower under their control.

- Iraq : To date, 260 mass graves have been discovered in Iraq containing the remains of at least 300,000 victims of the Saddam regime.
- Iraq : Due to the security situation, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is closing its Iraqi offices in Basra and Baghdad .
- Riyadh / Saudi Arabia : In the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, a serious bomb attack was carried out in a residential area on Sunday night. 122 people were injured 11 killed. The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber in a car. The governments in Saudi Arabia and the USA suspect the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda to be behind the attacks.
Sunday November 9, 2003
- Gorleben / Germany : Around a dozen opponents of nuclear power from the environmental protection organization Robin Wood occupied the tower of the exploratory camp in Gorleben at 6.30 a.m. They demand the stop of the Castor transports , the final rejection of a nuclear repository in Gorleben and the immediate phase-out of nuclear power. The police, who at that time were already billeted in large numbers on the mine premises because of the imminent Castor transport, could not prevent the action. The activists ended their action after about 12 hours.
- Tokyo / Japan : In the general election in Japan, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) suffered losses and no longer has an absolute majority of the seats in the lower house . However, it can continue the governing coalition with two smaller parties. The opposition Democratic Party , on the other hand, was able to record large votes.

- Geneva / Switzerland : The World Trade Organization declares the steel tariffs imposed by the United States to be illegal. The European Union in particular protested against the tariffs .
Tuesday November 11, 2003
- Berlin / Germany : The leadership of the parliamentary group of the Union parties considering the exclusion of the CDU - Bundestag deputies Martin Hohmann . At the same time, Roland Koch announced the expulsion from the party. This led to violent protests in the CDU Internet forum.
- Birresborn / Germany : The Birresborn Phönix Sprudel has to close due to contaminated springs. All employees lose their jobs.

- Karlsruhe / Germany : The Federal Constitutional Court declares the mail monopoly of the German Post to be non-unconstitutional. This will remain in place until 2007 according to the deadline .
- Nasiriyya / Iraq : An attack on the Italian headquarters in Iraq in Nassirijah killed at least 25 people, 17 Italians and 8 Iraqi civilians. There were also well over 70 injured. This was the largest attack against US allies in Iraq since the end of the Iraq war .
- Strasbourg / France : The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the dissolution of the Turkish Socialist Party, initiated by the Republic of Turkey in November 1993, violated the right to freedom of expression .

- Berlin / Germany : The homosexual victims of National Socialism should get a national memorial in Berlin , like other groups of victims before. The relevant decision of the culture committee of the Bundestag comes about without the support of the Union parties . The design of the monument should clarify an artistic competition.
- Iraq : Contrary to plan, Japan will not send troops to rebuild Iraq after all. Portugal, on the other hand, is sticking to the plan to send 128 police officers as trainers.
- United States : The United States wants to transfer sovereignty over Iraq faster than planned into the hands of democratically legitimized representatives. Elections should take place within the next 6 months. This change of plan is seen as the US response to numerous attacks in recent months.

- Berlin / Germany : The parliamentary group of the opposition parties is making the exclusion of the CDU - Bundestag deputies Martin Hohmann due to its as anti-Semitic classified remarks on 3 October.
- Frankfurt am Main / Germany : The National Association of Jewish Communities in Hessen provides criminal complaint against Martin Hohmann and 17 other members of the CDU -Ortsgruppe Neuhof near Fulda for sedition and other offenses.
- Austria : After the strike of the employees of the Austrian Federal Railways against the planned changes to the service contracts, which began on Wednesday , the railroad resumes operations.
- Paris / France : Around 40,000 critics of globalization take part in the second European Social Forum .
- Stade / Germany : With the shutdown of the Stade nuclear power plant , the agreed nuclear phase-out begins earlier than expected. Since the small power plant is no longer profitable, e.on transfers the remaining electricity to other nuclear power plants.
Saturday 15th November 2003
- Istanbul / Turkey : 22 people were killed in two car bomb attacks on synagogues in the center of the city. Over 300 people were injured. The front of the fighters for the Islamic Great East claimed responsibility for the attacks . Authorities suspect al-Qaeda to be behind the attacks.
- Mosul / Iraq : In a skirmish with Iraqi resistance fighters, two helicopters of the United States Armed Forces collided after they were fired. 17 soldiers died.
- St-Nazaire / France : When the jetty to the luxury ship Queen Mary II collapsed , 16 people died and 32 others were injured. The victims of the accident were relatives of the workers who wanted to inspect the unfinished ship. There were also many children among them.
- Vienna / Austria : At the 4th award of the Nestroy Theater Prize , Maria Happel was honored as best actress and Markus Hering as best actor.

- Belgrade / Serbia and Montenegro : The presidential election in the Republic of Serbia also fails in the third attempt, since with a turnout of 38% the required 50% is clearly missed. By votes, right-wing Tomislav Nikolić is ahead of Dragoljub Micunović, but the election will have to be retried at a later date.

- London / United Kingdom : US President George W. Bush arrives on a three-day state visit in London. The visit was accompanied by numerous protests.
- Republic of the Congo : There has been another outbreak of Ebola in the Congo , as confirmed by the World Health Organization . 11 people have died, 105 are under surveillance. Ebola is currently not curable.

- Santa Barbara / United States : The police conduct a house search in Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch and issue an arrest warrant against the pop star. Michael Jackson has been accused of child abuse on multiple counts.
Thursday November 20, 2003
- Dresden / Germany : The US chip manufacturer AMD announces that it will build a second factory in Dresden. Dresden prevailed against competition from the USA, Singapore and Eastern Europe , the deciding factors were the good training and the high motivation of the workforce in the existing AMD plant.
- Istanbul / Turkey : At least 27 people are killed and over 450 injured in two car bomb attacks on the British consulate and a British bank. The British Consul General Roger Short is among those killed. Although the front of the fighters for the Islamic Great East is committed to the attacks, the authorities suspect al-Qaeda to be the originator.
- London / United Kingdom : Well over 100,000 people are demonstrating in downtown London against the state visit by US President George W. Bush .

- Baghdad / Iraq : The oil ministry and two hotels were fired at with ten rockets. A US soldier was killed in an attack on a US convoy.
- Parbhani / India : In Parbhani in the west Indian state of Maharashtra , a bomb attack was carried out on a mosque immediately after Friday prayers . More than 20 people were injured.
Saturday November 22, 2003
- Iraq : In the morning, 5 Iraqi policemen and 5 civilians in Chan Bani Saad (north of Baghdad ) were killed in an explosives attack with a car bomb. 13 other people were injured. There was also a bomb attack outside the police headquarters in Baquba . 6 police officers died there.
- Tbilisi / Georgia : During the first parliamentary session after the controversial elections, demonstrators storm the parliament building. Previously, 25,000 demonstrators had gathered in front of the building and demanded the resignation of President Eduard Shevardnadze .

- Antarctica , Indian Ocean : A total solar eclipse can be observed in the Antarctic and the southern Indian Ocean . The longest obscuration of the sun with a duration of almost two minutes can be seen from Wilkesland .
- Tbilisi / Georgia : After mediation efforts by Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov , President Eduard Shevardnadze announced his resignation that evening. Nino Burjanadze will act as president until the next election.
- Zagreb / Croatia : In the Croatian parliamentary elections, the national-conservative HDZ is ahead of the government's center-left alliance.

- Nigeria : Robert Mugabe , President of Zimbabwe , will not be invited to the Commonwealth Summit of Heads of State or Government in Nigeria.
- Pregny-Chambésy / Switzerland : Those responsible for the United Nations Joint Program for HIV / AIDS report that around 3 million people worldwide died of AIDS in 2003 and that a further increase in the number of cases can be expected. a. in Eastern Europe and Central Asia . Around 40 million people worldwide carry the HI virus , including 2.5 million children. The hardest hit continent is Africa with 26.6 million infected.
- Washington, DC / United States : The growth rate of the gross domestic product of the USA reaches 8%. This order was last during the presidency of Ronald Reagan achieved in the 1980s.

- London / United Kingdom : The last of a total of 20 models of the Concorde supersonic aircraft made today is completing the last flight of a Concorde ever - it goes from London Heathrow Airport to Filton , where the aircraft manufacturer British Aircraft Corporation is based.
- Taipei / Taiwan : The Kuomintang declares for the first time not to block a possible referendum on Taiwan's independence.

- Berlin / Germany : Students protest against the cuts in the education budget and occupy, among other things, the PDS headquarters in Berlin's Karl-Liebknecht-Haus.
