In the final, Andrew Higginson beat John Higgins 4-1 .

Finals
Among the first prominent losers in the main tournament were number one and two in the preliminary world rankings, Mark Selby and Mark Williams . The latter lost the top game of the first round against Ronnie O'Sullivan , who then failed in round two. Ali Carter added another defeat to the season opener against Tour returnee Aditya Mehta from India. Jamie Cope suffered a clear 4-0 defeat against English amateur Antony Parsons.
David Gilbert put in a 141 break in his first round match, which should not be outbid in this tournament. He made it to the last sixteen, where he lost to Jack Lisowski . The youngster, who had his best results on the PTC tour so far, then also won against Jamie Burnett and met Andrew Higginson , who had come through the tournament with only three frame losses. In the second semifinals, world champion John Higgins , who had defeated Neil Robertson in the top game in the quarterfinals , met Barry Hawkins . Hawkins reached the semifinals for the second time after Event 3 of the tour at the same venue, but again a Scot was better: Higgins won 4-1, with the same result Higginson beat young Lisowski. For Higginson it was only the second final after the Welsh Open 2007 in a tournament that was about world ranking points. He crowned his good tournament performance with a clear 4-1 win and his first tournament win on the Main Tour.
