Schauren is a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Herrstein-Rhaunen community .
geography
Schauren is located in the Idarwald in the Hunsrück . 64.4 percent of the district area is forested. To the east are the places Hellertshausen and Asbach , to the south are Kempfeld and Bruchweiler .
The Aschiedermühle and Schaurenermühle residential areas also belong to Schauren.
The Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park is located near Schauren .

Municipal council
The council in Schauren consists of eight council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the volunteer local mayor as chairman.

There is a silent organ in the historic Protestant local church from 1767 . In addition, the community is in close proximity to the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park .
