The Autostrada A2 ( Romanian for "A2 motorway"), also known as Autostrada Soarelui (Romanian for "Sun Motorway"), connects the capital Bucharest with Constanța or May 2 on the Black Sea .

Since April 2007, the entire 151.6 km long section Bucharest - Cernavodă was passable. In April 2007 the 36.7 km Drajna - Feteşti section was released. At the end of 2006, 116 km were passable, which affected the two sections Bucharest-Drajna and Feteşti-Cernavodă.

At the end of July 2011, the section from Medgidia to Constanța (14 km) was released; Until July 2012 it was only passable on one lane. On July 19, 2012 the last section of the A2 between Cernavodă and Medgidia was also opened. The last work on the section was completed in November 2012.
