Unsuccessful applications
The order of blood had to be applied for, after which a decision was made about the award.
- Theodor Oberländer took part in the Hitler putsch and later applied for the blood order. His application was denied.
- Also Amon Goeth had applied the Blood Order vain.
Others
- According to contemporary witnesses, Oskar Schindler is said to have been the bearer of the blood order because of his high service to the German Empire. Schindler was a German patriotic spy; when the espionage was exposed, he was sentenced to death . Only Hitler's invasion of the “rest of the Czech Republic” prevented the execution of the death sentence.
