Location of the municipality

Kriechenwil (officially called Dicki until 1959 ) is a political municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

In addition to the residents' community, there is also a civic community under this name .

geography

Kriechenwil is located in the Swiss plateau on the Saane . The community consists of the places Kriechenwil , Riesenau and Schönenbüel . The neighboring communities starting from the north and clockwise are Ferenbalm , the Freiburg enclave Wallenbuch (Gde. Gurmels ), Laupen , Bösingen , Kleinbösingen , Gurmels and Ulmiz .

history

The first written mention of the community, which was officially called Dicki until 1959 , was made in 1353 under the name Digki .

In 1855 the division into civil parish and residents parish took place.

The gallows of the Zolligkofen district court used to be in Kriechenwil. Two foundations of the gallows can still be seen in the forest today.
