Carnival fountain
As Fastnachtsbrunnen , Fasnachtsbrunnen , Carnival fountain or Narrenbrunnen be with fountains carnival references referred. The Kirchseeoner Perchtenbrunnen can also be counted among this fountain tradition.
The fountain, which is probably the oldest in terms of structure, is in Ettlingen and, according to tradition, represents Hans von Singen , the court jester of Margrave Ernst . Probably the oldest, however, is the fountain that has been used by the Honorable Fool's Court in Grosselfingen for over 500 years for their fool's court. It is one of the most important attributes of the Brotherhood of the Honorable Fool's Court in Grosselfingen. Especially in the context of the Swabian-Alemannic Carnival , numerous fools and carnival fountains were built in Baden-Württemberg and Switzerland in the 20th century, starting with Donaueschingen (1913), among others. The relation to the Ettlinger Brunnen is controversial. Wilhelm Kutter saw him as a direct role model, the folklorist Werner Mezger , on the other hand, speaks of the "supposed role model" .
Eva Kimminich has worked out that the fool's fountain as a source of sin is already a motif in vision reports and spiritual play . However, the term should not be used as a term for concrete wells before the 19th century. Thus expresses Jacob Grimm skeptical of neuerfundener designation as Lorenz Diefenbach in sending a wetterauischen legend of Narrenbrunnen in Dauernheim writes.
