Herborn is located on the Königswald in the Hunsrück . Almost half of the district area is forested. Idar-Oberstein an der Nahe is located three kilometers to the south .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1319 as a Horbure . It originally belonged to the domain of the Wildgraves , later as an Electorate of Trier fiefdom to the Lords of Warsberg .
