Kostelní Vydří (German Kirchwiedern ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is a Marian pilgrimage site and is located three kilometers northwest of Dačice and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
Kostelní Vydří lies on the right side of the Moravian Thaya at Vyderský potok in southwest Moravia in the Javořická vrchovina.
Neighboring towns are Prostřední Vydří in the north, Velký Pěčín in the north-east, Malý Pěčín in the east, Dačice in the south, Dolní Němčice in the south-west, Volfířov in the west and Lipová in the north-west.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1310.
After Gerhard Heinrich Butz von Rolsberg had acquired the reign of Wiedern in 1694, he had the chapel of the Virgin Mary of Carmel built in 1709. In the 18th century, his descendants expanded it into a church, around which a monastery was built.
In Kostelní Vydří, in addition to Prague-Liboc and Olomouc-Hejčín, one of the three Carmelite branches in the Czech Republic is located.
